Obituary of Reginald D. Cunningham

Reginald D. Cunningham, a long time resident of Darien and a former Stamford resident, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Stamford Hospital. Born June 8, 1915 in Kilmarnock, Scotland, he was the son of the late Reginald D. Cunningham and Isabella Hay Cunningham. He was 90 years of age. Mr. Cunningham served with the Scots Guard during World War II. He came to the United States in 1948 with his wife Jane, who predeceased him in 1990. They settled in Stamford. He worked as a baker then started worked at the former Stamford Wallpaper Company as a shipping clerk. After moving to Darien in the 1960’s, he started to work for the Darien Board of Education as a custodian. Mr. Cunningham was involved with the Round Hill Scottish Games for many years as well as Clan McKenzie. Mr. Cunningham is survived by his daughter Sandra Volin and two grandsons, Shaun and Daniel, all of Darien. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters. The family will received friends and family at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home 2119 Post Road, Darien on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the Noroton Presbyterian Church, Deacon’s Fund, 2011 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820.
