Obituary of Mary Wallace

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary O. Wallace, wife of the late Allen E. Wallace Jr., went to the Lord peacefully on January 26, 2015 surrounded by her loving family in her home. Born on December 26, 1928 in Westport and raised in Norwalk, Mary was the daughter of Michael and Margaret O'Brien. After attending Norwalk schools she worked at the Norwalk Hat Corporation before getting married on May 30, 1955. Over the years Mary also worked in the Norwalk school system, the U.S. Postal Service and at the Norwalk Senior Center. Mary was recognized for her dedication as a volunteer at the Darien Senior Center and later on she enjoyed attending and participating in the luncheons, sing-a-longs, special programs and especially the epic Bingo sessions! Mary was predeceased by her brother, Michael, and her sister, Gloria. She is survived by her four devoted and loving children, Allen and his wife Maureen Wallace of Fairfield, CT, Patricia Wallace of Norwalk CT, Mary and her husband James Tucciarone of Wilton, CT and William Wallace of Darien, CT. Mary also leaves behind a legacy in her cherished grandchildren, Meghan and Kelly Wallace and James, Willie and Thomas Tucciarone. Growing up the Wallace house was the go-to place for sleep-overs, late night pizza or last minute dinner invitations. A loving mother and grandmother, she always put the needs of her family first. Being with family and friends and having a nice cup of tea was heaven for her. She loved to watch game shows, sports and old movies. Mary regularly attended the Darien Senior Center where she had many friends who enjoyed her wit and love of all things sparkly and bright -just like her. Mary loved to meet people and to be with people. Her easy-going spirit, infectious sense of humor and generous heart is why people gravitated to her and loved being around her. As a devout Christian woman Mary generously shared what she had without hesitation and always with a smile. The Wallace family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the caregivers for their love and compassion, especially Dr. Negus, Nancy Schaffer and Ana Arias. She considered you friends. Mary will be missed deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. John R. C. Church, 1989 Post Road, Darien. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation to the Darien Senior Center, 2 Renshaw Rd., Darien, CT 06820 or to the Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut, 765 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06604 in Mary's name. www.lawrencefuneralhome.com Funeral Home: Edward Lawrence Funeral Home 2119 Post Road Darien, CT USA 06820
