Obituary of Barbara S. Saverine

Barbara S. Saverine, 57, of Southport, CT passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, January 27, 2012 surrounded by her loving family after a brief challenge with cancer. Born May 5, 1954, she was raised in Darien by her mother Barbara H. Smolewski and her late father Anthony Smolewski. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Peter C. Saverine, who was her soul mate and close friend since the fourth grade. Together over the years, they made their home in Darien, Wilton, and Fairfield, where they shared great pride in their four children who will continue in her spirit: Lauren Saverine Stisser (married to Timothy), Justin Saverine (married to Mackenzie), Megan and Jeffrey Saverine. She is also survived by her brother, Stephen A. Smolewski of Stamford, and a cherished group of family and friends to whom she devoted her life by creating special memories with her love, laughter, encouragement, stylish flair and passion for life by the beach. Barbara was a 1972 graduate of Darien High School. She graduated from Mt. Ida College in Wellesley, MA followed by the J. M. Wright Technical School in Stamford, CT where she became a licensed practical nurse. Having practiced as an LPN at a variety of Fairfield County medical offices, she was most recently working in a Norwalk dermatology group. The family held a seaside celebration of Barbara's life at their home over the weekend, filled with shells, mermaids, starfish and hydrangea. A private beach gathering at Barbara's favorite place will be held this summer at the Brant Point Lighthouse on Nantucket.
