Obituary of Edward James McCue

Edward James McCue, a resident of Toano, Virginia and a former longtime Darien resident, passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2015. Ed was born on September 12, 1937, son of Edward and Elizabeth (Lockwood) McCue. He attended Darien schools and was a member of the Class of 1955. He attended Boston College and served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was an instructor in telegraph and communications. Ed served the Noroton Fire Department as Chief and President and was a volunteer Connecticut State Fire Marshall. He was an active member of the Darien Boat Club and instrumental in its expansion. Ed managed teams in the Darien Little League, Babe Ruth and Sr. Babe Ruth and was also a President of the Darien Little League. Ed received the Darien Old Timers' Athletic Association Honoree Award in 2003. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean (O'Brien) McCue; his sons Brien (Dorothea) of Shelton and Craig (Fredericka) of Dayton, Ohio, seven grandchildren; Timothy, Kevin, Daniel, Meghan, Brittany, Bailey, Madeline and a sister Joan Boragine. Calling hours are Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien Connecticut. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 16 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien.
