Obituary of Carmella M.. Palumberi

Carmella M. Palumberi, a former longtime resident of Darien, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 1, 2015 in Edgewood, NM. She was 88 years old. Born on March 30, 1926, she was raised on Summer Street in New Canaan. Carm attended New Canaan public schools as did her 10 brothers and 4 sisters. She was predeceased by her husband, Patsy Palumberi, her parents Lucy and Antonio D'Ascenzo as well as 14 siblings. Married to Patsy on May 4, 1946, they raised their 2 children in Noroton Heights. Carm remained in Darien until April of last year when she joined her daughter in Edgewood, NM. She was a past president of the Noroton Heights Fire Department Women's Auxiliary as well as a past president of The Piedmont Club Women's Auxiliary. Carm was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who greatly enjoyed attending St. Thomas More Church. She is survived by her daughter Patti Coughlin of Edgewood, MN; her son Frank Palumberi and his wife Lisa of Bethel, CT; her five grandchildren, Cody Coughlin of Brooksville, FL; Jack Coughlin of Keene, NH; Mitchell, Taylor and Daniel Palumberi all of Bethel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas More Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien.
