Joseph J. Grady, a resident of the Rowayton section of Norwalk since 1979, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2006 at Norwalk Hospital. Born November 2, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Bennett) Grady. He was 82. Mr. Grady graduated from Hofstra University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics. He served with the U. S. Army during World War II. He is a retired engineer from the New York Telephone Co. and later worked for ITT in Connecticut. He was a member of the Roton Point Club and enjoyed tennis, cross country skiing and bicycling. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie R. (Romanelli) Grady of Rowayton; three sons, John W. Grady and his wife Carole of Rye, NH; William J. Grady of Lindenhurst, NY and Timothy Grady and his wife Julie of Alexandria, VA; one daughter, Elizabeth A. MacKenzie and her husband Robert of Seymour, CT; and his six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Caroline, Margaret, Colleen, Connor and Liam. He is also survived by a brother, John Grady of Brooklyn, NY and sisters, Marie Hassell of Long Beach, NY and Eileen Richter of Breezy Point, NY. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT on Thursday, February 16, 2006 from 4:30 to 8:00 PM. A Prayer Service will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, Darien on Friday, February 17, 2006 at 9:30 AM. Burial will take place at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.
