Obituary of Rose Eleanor Furtak

Rose Eleanor Furtak, a resident of Stamford for 62 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Danbury Hospital. Born on April 18, 1926 in Darien, CT, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Portonova) Sarni. She was 88 years of age. Rose worked for the Morris Plan Bank, Pitney Bowes and for many years was a Teachers' Aide at the Springdale School. She had a wonderful sense of humor, as well as a love for music and the New York Yankees. Rose lived a life surrounded by family and loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She is survived by her loving children, Barbara Siladi and her husband Kim; Gary Furtak and his wife Marilyn; and Fred Furtak and his wife Jiji. She adored her grandchildren, Lieutenant Jonathan Siladi and his wife, Tricia; Kristina Siladi; Christopher Furtak and his wife Ashley; Gregory Furtak; Andrew Furtak; Stephannie Furtak and Danielle Furtak; as well as step-grandchildren, Eric Breighner and Christina Breighner. Rose is also survived by a brother, Michael Sarni of Florida and many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Frederick John Furtak, Sr.; two brothers John and Paul; and six sisters, Lee, Tessie, Josephine, Peggy, Annette and Beatrice. The family will received friends on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820. Services and burial will be private.
