Obituary of Frank Andrew Olsson

Frank Andrew Olsson, a long-time Darien and Stamford resident passed away Friday, April 20, at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. He was 95. Beloved husband of the late Katherine Teeter Olsson, Frank was a retired Electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 70 years. He was born in Stamford to the late Frank Andrew Olsson and the late Florence Maude Clowe. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Roland M. Clowe, a brother, John F. Olsson, and a sister, Dorothy Folke. Frank was a graduate of the J. M. Wright Technical School and an active member of Union Memorial Church, Stamford, where he served on church boards and enjoyed participating in the choir. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and operating his ham radio station. A World War II veteran, Frank proudly served our country in the 20th Air Force, 509th Composite Group, 603rd Air Engineering Squadron; serving in the 1st Atomic Group in the Mariana Islands. Mr. Olsson was a 63 year member of Union Lodge #5, A.F. & A.M. of Connecticut, in Stamford, and a 32 degree Mason in the Lafayette Consistory, A.A.S.R. In addition, he was a Noble in the Pyramid Shrine, Milford, A.A.O.N.M.S. Mr. Olsson is survived by his two daughters, Janet Skigen and her husband, Kenneth, of Carmel, Indiana, and Andrea Burke and her husband, T. Michael, of Trumbull; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Skigen and Timothy Burke. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, at Union Memorial Church, 58 Church St., Stamford, with the Rev. Dr. Blaine Edele officiating. Burial will be private at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
