Obituary of Jane Troy Ziegler

Jane Troy Ziegler, a long-time resident of Darien, died on March 29, 2006 after a brief illness. Born in Bridgeport on June 21, 1927 to William Troy and Veronica Ryan, she spent her childhood years in Stamford and Darien where she attended the Sacred Heart Academy and graduated from Darien High School, as well as the Whitney School of Fine Arts in New Haven, CT. In 1952 Jane married William Ziegler, III. She lived for over 50 years on Hay Island where she raised their six children and pursued her interests in interior design, gardening and antiquing. Mrs. Ziegler was active in the local Meals On Wheels program and as a member of St. John RC Church in Noroton. She is survived by her husband, William, and six children, Melissa J. Ziegler of Darien, William T. Ziegler and Peter M. Ziegler of Stamford, Cynthia Ziegler Brighton of Southport, Helen Z. Benjamin of South Norwalk and Karl H. Ziegler of Rowayton, as well as eight grandchildren. A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John RC Church of Noroton on Saturday, April 1 followed by a private burial at St. John RC Cemetery in Darien. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut, 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611, Attn: Janet Peck.
