George William Acker, a resident of Norwalk, CT, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Darien on December 18, 1920, he was the son of the late George Frederick and Signe Ericson Acker. He was 91. George was vice president of Commerce Packaging Corp. He was also a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Norwalk. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Borgen Acker of Norwalk; a daughter, Cheryl Acker of Fairfield, CT and one granddaughter, Kristen Wolchik. He is also survived by a sister, Jane Pirnat of Brewster, MA. The family will receive friends at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 208 Newtown Avenue, Norwalk on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 10:30 11:00 AM. A Funeral Service will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Long Ridge Cemetery in Stamford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, Darien is handling the arrangements.
