Obituary of Helen Holmes Rogers

Helen Holmes Rogers, a former 48 year resident of Darien, CT and a current resident of Clearwater, FL, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Belleair County House in Clearwater, FL. Born October 15, 1918 in Pawling, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry A. Holmes and Nettie Stone Holmes. She was 87. Mrs. Rogers graduated from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY and was active in their alumni organization. She was a dedicated active volunteer for over 30 years with the Darien Chapter of the American Red Cross helping coordinate area blood drives. She was also a member of Noroton Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Carol R. Meles of Clearwater, FL and two grandchildren, Kevin and Tracey Meles both of Clearwater, FL. She is predeceased by her husband, Harold H. Rogers in 1998 and a half sister, Margaret Gilbert. A Funeral Service will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Pawling Cemetery in Pawling, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Darien Chapter of the American Red Cross, 39 Leroy Avenue, Darien, CT 06820.
