Obituary of William F. Rice

William F. Rice, a life long resident of Norwalk, CT passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Westport Health Care Center. Born January 25, 1921 in Anderson, IN, he was the son of the late Lawrence W. and Darle (Breedlove) Rice. He was 85.
Mr. Rice was associated with the American University of Beirut for 45 years and was vice president. He was a long time member of the Norwalk United Methodist Church. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
William was a man of wisdom. He touched the lives of so many people just by being in their presence. He was the type of person who everyone went to when they had a question or just needed someone to listen. He was very selfless. He put others needs in front of his own. He always looked for the best in everyone. He will be missed very much by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his son Kenneth W. Rice and his wife, Margaret, of Norwalk and a son-in-law, Ronald R. Harms also of Norwalk. He is also survived by three brothers, John and his wife, Norrine, from Peoria, IL; Jim and his wife, Maggie, from Aurora, CO and Tom and his wife, Cindy, from Burnsville, MN; and four sisters, Jane from Montgomery, IL; Velna from Harlowton, MT; Dot from Homosassa, FL and Lois and her husband, Don, from Yorkville, IL. He is also survived by three grandchildren Christina Kantzas Bohrer, Kathleen Watts and Georgia Kantzas all of Norwalk and two great grandchildren Christopher J. Bohrer and David A. Watts, Jr. also all of Norwalk. He is predeceased by his wife, Emma Jean Rice in 2005; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Harms in 2004; three sisters, Eloise, Maxine and Barb and one brother, Bob.
Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, Darien on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Interment is private.
