Obituary of Lucy Palmer Wellington

Lucy Palmer Wellington, a Darien resident for over 50 years, died at Stamford Hospital on June 19, 2006. She was born in Stamford on December 13, 1907, the daughter of Rocco and Maria (Tarantino) Palmieri. She was 98. She was predeceased by her husband Cyrus W. Wellington whom she married in 1958. Better known to all as Duke, he was a self-employed roofing supply salesman. Lucy was well known to many Darien residents as the friendly face at Palmer’s Super Market where she was head checker and senior buyer for many years. She was a faithful member of St. John Catholic Church in Noroton, CT. Lucy was the end of an era, the last of eight children. She is predeceased by four sisters, Fannie, Rita, Caroline and Katherine and three brothers, Joseph, Anthony and Daniel. She is survived by 11 nephews and nieces. The family will received friends and relatives at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, June 22, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. There will be a Prayer Service at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in a family plot at St. John Cemetery in Darien, CT.
