Elizabeth “Betty” T. Mattis, a resident of Darien for over 55 years, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2006 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT. Born April 12, 1922 in Norwalk, CT, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Levay) Bartoes. She was 84.

Betty worked for W.T. Grants in Stamford for 25 years and then worked for Stoler’s for nine years. She was a parishioner of St. John R.C. Church in Darien and active with the Darien Senior Center

She is survived by one aunt, Florence Levay of Portland, CT and five cousins. She is predeceased by her husband Arthur M. Mattis in 1984.

A Graveside Service will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien on Friday, July 21, 2006 at 11:00 AM. The Edward Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien handled the arrangement.
