Obituary of Shirley Peaston Van Wagener

Shirley Peaston Van Wagener, a resident of Darien for over 50 years, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2006 in Darien. Born August 29, 1924 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Jane Florence (Hornberger) Peaston. She was 81. Mrs. Van Wagener was a long time realtor in Darien working for Bry Beeson, Preferred Properties, County Living and Associates, Coldwell Banker and William Raveis. She was involved with the Hindley School P.T.A. and was a long time parishioner of St. John R.C. Church in Darien. She is survived by her four children, Raymond Van Wagener, Jr. of Greenwood Village, CO; Gretchen Dailey of Darien; Erica Hilary of Potomac, MD; and Kristin Holland of Fairfield, CT. She is survived by eight grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Raymond H. Van Wagener in 2004 and two brothers, George and Al Peaston. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, July 6, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to “Joy to the World Foundation”, c/o Mr. R. H. Van Wagener, Jr., 9230 East Crestline Avenue, Greenwood Village, CO 80111.
