Obituary of Geraldine Viohl Primm

Geraldine Viohl Primm March 19, 1929-September 1, 2012 Geraldine Viohl Primm, 83, of Darien CT, passed away peacefully on September 1 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT after a seven week illness. Geraldine, the daughter of Anna L. and Richard Viohl, was born on March 19, 1929 in New York City and spent her childhood in Pelham Manor, New York where she lived with her mother, Brother Richard and grandmother. She attended Ohio Wesleyan University, where she met her husband of 53 years, Robert Primm. She ultimately graduated from George Washington University, Washington, DC, where she transferred to be closer to Robert during their courtship. Geraldine also received a degree in Interior Design from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. She was a gifted oil painter and water color artist who enjoyed many classes at the Darien Community Association and with various community groups. She was a runway model for Lord & Taylor in New York for a number of years. Gerry devoted her life to being a loving mother and wife. She and her husband Bob settled in Darien, CT where they built the home that was the center of their family life. Bob and Gerry focused on providing their three daughters a lovely home and access to sports, education, camp, boating and fun in a family neighborhood with lots of good friends. Gerry and Bob shared a lifelong and deep love of the water, beaches, Long Island Sound, vacationing in water destinations such as Antigua and Nassau and the Jersey Shore. They spent many weekends waterskiing with their daughters on Long Island Sound, and boating to the Norwalk Islands, Long Island beaches and other destinations along the New England coast. Geraldine and Robert were Charter Members of the Darien Country Club and lifelong members of the Darien Boat Club. Geraldine volunteered for Meals on Wheels, American Heart association and American Cancer Society over the years. She was a loyal member of the Noroton Presbyterian church her entire life and attended bible study and other church related activities. Her beloved husband Robert pre-deceased her 12 years ago. She is survived by her daughters Deborah Primm Mills, of Brookside, New Jersey, Pamela Primm Zangrillo, of Darien, CT and Stephanie Primm of Bedford, NY, sons-in-law, Stephen Zangrillo, Jr. and John Mills III, and her grandchildren Stephen Zangrillo III, and his wife Danielle Pampillonio Zangrillo, Amy Mills Schweitzer, and her husband, Thomas Schweitzer, Jennifer Lynn Mills, and Jessie Mills. She is also survived by her two great grandchildren, Alexander and Thomas Schweitzer. She is also survived by many devoted family dogs who brought her great joy. The last ten years of her life following her husband's passing, Geraldine lived at Edgehill in Stamford. There will be a memorial service for Geraldine on Saturday,, September 8, at 2 PM at Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Rd. Darien, CT 06820, Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405, or the Stamford Hospital Foundation, 1351 Washington Blvd., Suite 202, Stamford CT 06902 in Geraldine's memory.
