Obituary of Ferdinand Woldan

Ferdinand “Fred” Woldan, Jr., age 92, died peacefully Wednesday morning, July 19, 2006, at the Blaire House in Tewksbury, MA. He was the beloved husband for 66 years of Antoinette “Tonie”(Amler) Woldan of Tewksbury, formerly of Stamford, CT. He was born in Stamford, CT on August 28, 1913, the son of the late Ferdinand and Emilie (Krupar) Woldan. Mr. Woldan served as 1st Lieutenant in the Army with the 23rd Corps during World War II. He worked as a civil engineer for the City of Stamford where he retired as the Superintendent of Sanitation in 1977. He had also served as President of the Stamford Municipal Employees Association. He enjoyed golf and traveling with his wife. He was a guitar teacher, an amateur artist and a member of the Stamford Art Association and Stamford Senior Men’s Association. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and his wife Sandy (Cogan) of Perth, Australia; Richard and his wife Karen (Larsen) of Chelmsford, MA; two daughters, Barbara Woldan of San Diego, CA; and Marjorie Woldan of Lowell, MA; two sisters, Blanche Swintek of Huntington Beach, CA and Mildred Joyce of Walnut Creek, CA; six grandchildren, Paul, Tanya, Alana, Alexa, Jeffrey and Kristina Woldan; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Emilie Tyler and Vera Mulaire. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, July 29, 2006 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. A Graveside Service will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien at 11:15 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Luke’s LifeWorks, 141 Franklin Street, Stamford, CT 06901 will be appreciated.
