Robert McKenna, a former longtime Darien resident, passed away at his home in Murrells Inlet, SC on Friday, September 7, 2012. Born On August 5, 1930 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late James J. McKenna, Sr. and Agnes McCormick McKenna. He was 82. Robert was a former local retired painter who then opened Pine Grove Liquors in New Canaan. He was a parishioner at St. John R.C. Church in Darien. With his loving wife, Bob moved to Murrells Inlet where he enjoyed spending time playing golf. He is survived by a sister, Mary Lou McKenna of Glastonbury, CT; two stepsons Wade Koba and his wife Nancy of Ossining, NY; Philip Koba and his wife Nancy of Norwalk, CT; four step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Aurelia McKenna and a brother, James McKenna, Jr. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. A Prayer Service will follow at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 455 Post Road, East, Westport, CT 06880.
