Harold B. "Ted" Hubbell, a resident of the Rowayton section of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk. Born April 10, 1924 in New Rochelle, NY, he was the son of the late Harold and Rose (Burpee) Hubbell. He was 88. Mr. Hubbell graduated from New Rochelle High School, Class of 1942; attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT; received a BA degree in 1946 from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA; and received an MA degree in 1948 from Columbia University in New York City. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean emergency. He served aboard the U.S.S. West Virginia and was recalled to active duty at U.S. Navy Air Missile Test Center, Pt. Mugu, CA as a Lieutenant. Ted worked for Texaco in marketing operations in West and Equatorial Africa during the 1950's and then he worked in international corporate and banking service activities until his retirement in 1990. The family is grateful for the loving care Harold received from the staff at the Notre Dame Convalescent Home. Ted is survived by his wife Francine (Adie) Bradford Hubbell; two sons, David B. Hubbell of Springfield, MO and Stephen D.M. Hubbell and his wife Dr. Tracie Tullis-Hubbell of Brooklyn, NY and three grandchildren; Malcolm Tullis-Hubbell, Mestawit Tullis-Hubbell and Silas Rowan Tullis-Hubbell all of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Jennifer Bradford Sarosi of Mineral, VA and Jayme Bradford DeVito of East Haven, CT and four step-granddaughters; Carolyn Sarosi and Belinda Sarosi both of Richmond, VA and Donna DeVito and Diane DeVito both of East Haven, CT. He is predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth McIntosh Hubbell. Services and interment will be private. The Edward Lawrence Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
