Obituary of Anna Vita Carriera

Anna Vita Carriera, a longtime resident of Darien, CT, died on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Norwalk Hospital. Anna was born October 14, 1914 in New Britain, CT to the late Anthony and Maria (Chapas) Vita. She was 91. Anna was a ten year volunteer at Person-to-Person, giving countless hours to those in need. Anna was also a member and contributor to the Darien Senior Center. Anna is survived by five children, Louisa Calka of Darien, CT; Anthony J. Carriera, Jr. of Fairfield, CT; Paula Turcer of Fairfield, CT; John Carriera of Stamford, CT; and Alberta “Birdie” DeRosa of Shelton, CT; six grandchildren, James A. Calka, Jr.; Stephaine Turcer; Danielle and Tracey Carriera; Beth DeRubeis and Kristin DeRosa; and six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Justin and Jacob Calka; Christian and Sebastian DeRubeis and luca DeRosa. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony J. Carriera, a WW II veteran; a sister and two brothers. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private and she will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien. The Edward Lawrence Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
