Obituary of Ruth Fox Merrill

Ruth Fox Merrill, a resident of York, ME and a former 55 year resident of Stamford, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in York, ME. Born July 22, 1918 in Dracut, MA, she was the daughter of the late Clinton W. and Ethel (Cheney) Fox. She was 94. Ruth graduated from Lowell Teachers College and received a Master's degree from Boston University. She worked as a teacher for 30 years in the New Canaan school system. She was a former longtime active member of Union Memorial Church in Stamford. She volunteered at the Ferguson Library and Red Cross. She was a former longtime member of the Grange. She is survived by her children, Brenda Roberti of Norwalk; Bruce Merrill of York, ME; Barry Merrill of Durham, NC; and five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by a brother, Jimmy Fox of Maine and a sister, Helen Filloramo of Ellington, CT. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Union Memorial Church, 58 Church Street, Stamford on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 3:30 PM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
