Obituary of Leonor Lozano

Leonor Lozano, a longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2006 at the Long Ridge of Stamford Nursing Home, surrounded by her family after a short illness. She was 88 years old. Born on July 19, 1918 in Bogota, Colombia, Mrs. Lozano moved to New York City in 1971 after becoming a widow the decade before. She moved to Stamford in 1982 to live with her son and family. She was the daughter of Agustin and Ana Rosa Reyes. Her father was a presidential photographer for 35 years in Colombia and a contributing photo journalist to the newspaper El Tiempo in Bogota. She is survived by her beloved son, Will Lozano and his wife, Margherite J. Lozano of Stamford, granddaughter, Diane P. Lozano of Norwalk and friends and family throughout the United States and Colombia. In Colombia, she is survived by her beloved grandchildren: Marcela, Diana, Carlos, Alain, Manuel and Patricia and five great grandchildren and one sister, Lilia Pena of Salt Lake City, UT. She was predeceased by her daughter Marina Lozano de Higuera and her son, Arturo Lozano. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stanley Skolnick of Darien for his kind medical care for the last 24 years. In addition, the family also wishes to thank the caring staff of the Long Ridge of Stamford Nursing Facility during Mrs. Lozano’s stay. She leaves us with her generous caring nature and with a legacy of kindness and love of others. She was a devout Catholic and loved by all who knew her. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 10:00 AM.
