Obituary of Walter Joseph Hackett

Walter Joseph Hackett , a resident of Norwalk, CT, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at his home. Born on July 29, 1927 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph and Erma (Mucci) Hackett. He was 85. Walter graduated from Warren Harding, class of 1945. He then graduated from Fordham University, College of Pharmacy in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was co-owner of Fairlawn Pharmacy with his brother, Joseph. He was a lifetime member of the Connecticut Pharmaceutical Association and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Innis Arden Golf Club of Greenwich. He was an avid golfer, loved to play the piano and was a former Bridgeport athlete. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie, and two sons Paul and Walter. He was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Hackett. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd., Darien, CT on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew's R.C. Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the charity of your choice.
