On Thursday, September 14th, Phyllis Tinker Campbell went home to find eternal peace with her Father in Heaven. She passed away with her family by her side at home, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Phyllis Tinker Campbell was born March 13, 1924, in Stamford, CT to Arthur Almerin Tinker and Margaret Hessin Tinker. Mrs. Campbell graduated from The Low Heywood School in1942 and attended Katherine Gibbs in New York City. She was an avid reader, was affiliated with Hospice of Stamford and a New York Yankee fan. She had been a life-long Stamford resident.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Henry Campbell Jr., three daughters, Dorsey Grant Campbell of Stamford, CT, Joan Tinker Campbell of Shillington, PA and Marty Gabrielson and her husband Tom, of Fairfield, Ct, a son Peter Howard and wife Carol of Stamford, CT, son-in-law Ira Tauber and daughter-in-law Karen Howard. She is also survived by a sister, Joan Tinker Swift and her husband J. Bartlett Swift, of Norwalk, CT and a brother, Grant Almerin Tinker and wife Brooke Knapp, of Los Angeles, CA. She proudly leaves eight grandsons, Chris, Matt, Jesse, Nick, Phil, Pete, Ethan and Michael, and one precious great-grandaughter, Meredith; her best friend and cousin, Pamela Judson Riley of Stamford, CT. She leaves many beloved nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, September 23rd, at 11AM at Union Memorial Church, 58 Church Street, Glenbrook, CT 06906. Services will be conducted by Pastor Blaine Edele. Burial services are private. Any additional information may be obtained by contacting Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers, Phyllis requests memorial gifts be directed to Union Memorial Church.
