Dorothy Seehorn Howe, wife of the late Robert E. Howe, died at her home on Sunday, September 17, 2006 in the presence of family and friends
The daughter of the late Frank and Delia Cauble Seehorn, she was born at home in Cheyenne, WY on March 14, 1912 and raised in Casper, WY. A graduate of Stephens College in Missouri, she married Robert E. Howe August 25, 1934. They resided in Sinclair, WY for many years where her children, Donald Robert Howe and Mary Dorothy Howe were born. The family moved to Connecticut in 1955, where she has since primarily resided.
A full time homemaker, she was a volunteer for many community services including, Meals on Wheels since its inception, receiving the Golden Rule Award for volunteer work with Meals on Wheels in 1985. She was a past state president of PEO, of which she was a member for over 50 years. Additionally, she was a volunteer teacher at the Mountain Top Nursery School for over 20 years. An active member of the Noroton Presbyterian Church, she served as an Elder and on the Council of Churches and Synagogues among other roles.
She is survived by her son Donald Robert Howe, Sr. of Waco, TX; daughter Mary Dorothy Howe Miller of Wilton, CT; nephew Ronald Howe of Colorado; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private.
