Obituary of Marilyn Bosh Vojta

Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marilyn Bosh Vojta, of Stamford, CT died peacefully on Friday, November 6th, surrounded by her husband and children. She was 71. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, her many friends, and especially the hundreds of young students she trained at Darien's Explorer Post 53 through four decades of volunteer work. Her background as a teacher and her love of medicine made her especially suited for volunteering at Post, an emergency medical service in Darien run by local high school students and adult volunteers. While at Post 53, she trained thousands of students, local police officers and firefighters to certify as Emergency Medical Technicians in addition to responding to medical emergencies and serving as unofficial mentor to the students. Helping others was what Marilyn loved doing most and the bonds she formed at Post filled her with immense pride and happiness right up to her final days. She was born to the late Robert and Cecelia Bosh, October 8, 1944 in Chicago, IL. Marilyn graduated from Downers Grove High School and received her BA in Education and Psychology from DePauw University. In 1989, she received her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University. After a chance meeting in the elevator at Marshall Field's department store, she married William (Bill) Vojta of Chicago, IL in 1966 spending a wonderful 49 years with him before she passed. Marilyn was a teacher, counselor and trainer turned executive recruiter who ran her own successful recruiting and career counseling business for the past 18 years. In addition to the Post, she was a very active member of St. John Church in Darien where she volunteered as a Eucharistic minister, liturgy coordinator, and most recently, Parish Council President. She and her husband were also active members of the Shippan Gourmet Group. Long known for her wonderful laugh, welcoming arms and unconditional love for all those around her, Marilyn was an avid tennis player for many years who enjoyed reading, traveling, and sitting on her front porch enjoying the gentle breezes off the Sound. She was happiest when she was helping others and spending time with her family, friends, and her dog Ranger. She is survived by her husband, Bill, of Stamford, CT, her son, Jon and wife Daniela of New York City, her daughter, Trish and husband Steve of Stratford, CT, and her loving sister Carol of Evanston, IL. She leaves behind four grandchildren who adored her beyond measure. A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at St. John Church in Darien on Saturday, November 14 at ten-thirty in the morning. In memory of Marilyn's wonderful life, memorial donations in her name are suggested to Explorer Post 53 at www.post53.info/donate or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org). Edward Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien, CT will be handling arrangements. Funeral Home: Edward Lawrence Funeral Home 2119 Post Road Darien, CT USA 06820
