Thelma G. Breslin, a resident of Darien/Stamford area for the past 15 years, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at St. Camillus Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born September 19, 1915 in Passaic, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Rosina (Cogan) Groenendyk. She was 91. Mrs. Breslin worked as a registered nurse at Preakness Hospital in Wayne, NJ from 1949 to 1976. She was a parishioner of St. John R.C. Church in Darien. She served with the U.S. Army Nurse’s Corp as a Captain during World War II. Thelma is survived by one son, Frank J. Breslin, MD of Lincoln, MA and one daughter, Diane B. Ryan of Darien. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Tracy Ryan of New York City; Dana and Michael Ryan of Darien; Ericka Breslin Bartsch of Maryland and Ian Breslin of Stoneham, MA and two great grandchildren, Daniel and Dylan Breslin of Stoneham, MA. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Breslin in 1991. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 9:00 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Darien Senior Center, P. O. Box 2144, Darien, CT 06820.
