Obituary of Bridget Gately McCartney

Bridget Gately McCartney, a resident of Darien, CT, a former five-year resident of St. Augustine, FL and a former long-time resident of Chestnut Hill, MA, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Rosenthal Hospice Residence in Stamford. Born June 6, 1932 in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen Gately. She was 74. Mrs. McCartney was a long-time registered nurse at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Alan J. McCartney of Darien, CT; four children, Thomas Luz of Darien; Martin Luz of New York, NY; John Luz of San Diego, CA and Christopher Luz of Tampa, FL; and three grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Michael and Malachi Gately both of Roscommon, Ireland and three sisters, Evelyn McGarry of Salthill, County Galway, Ireland; Ann Marie Devenney of Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland and Kathleen Kerrigan of Galway, Ireland. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road on Friday, November 3, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 11:30 AM. Burial will take place in Knockroghery, County Roscommon, Ireland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Rosenthal Hospice Residence, c/o Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care, 1029 East Main Street, Stamford, CT 06905.
