Margaret (Peggy) M. Benke, age 83, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Norwalk Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frederick W. Benke, Jr. Mrs. Benke was born April 2, 1929 in Stamford, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Mary (Kearney) Kenneally. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, and former employee of Charleson Publishing Company, Darien. She leaves her six children, Elaine Pavlick and husband Daniel of Woodbury, CT; Rick Benke and wife Darla of Topeka, KS; Meg Plona and husband Mark of Sagamore Hills, OH; John Benke of New York, NY; MaryAnn Fisher and husband Stephen of Newtown, CT; MaryJane Hogan and husband Brian of Trumbull, CT; 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Timothy Benke. A Funeral Service will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal rescue charity of choice.
