Robert W. Mitchell, a Darien resident since 1982, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2006 at New York University Hospital in New York City. Born June 13, 1952 in Dobbs Ferry, NY, he was the son of the late Horace and Thursa (Harlow) Mitchell. He was 54.

He received a B.A. degree from Marietta College and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University. He was an investment banker with the following firms, Chemical Bank, Credit Swisse First Boston and R.B.S. Greenwich Capital Corp. He coached Darien youth soccer for over 10 years. He was a member of Woodway Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sue-Ellen H. Mitchell of Darien and four children, Robert W. Mitchell, Jr., Justin B. Mitchell, Christopher H. Mitchell and Charles D. Mitchell all of Darien. He is also survived by two brothers, Peter Mitchell of Underhill, VT and Frank Mitchell of Bloomington, IN; one sister, Margaret Russell of Rockport, MA; six nephews and 3 nieces.

Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Friday, December 8, 2006 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
