Obituary of Kenneth F. Allen

Kenneth F. Allen, age 75, a longtime resident of Darien, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Ken was a former CBS network staff announcer, who went on to become an actor/spokesman who appeared in numerous radio and television commercials, as well as many industrial training films and tapes. He was a retired member of the American Federation of Television and Radio artists, and the Screen Actor’s Guild.
Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Army’s Second Infantry Division and served in the Korean War. He was also a longtime member of the Stamford Racing Pigeon Club, the Darien Senior Center, and was an avid photographer.
Ken was pre-deceased by Charlotte, his wife of 41 years, and is survived by his sister, Dorothy Bertonazzi of Southboro, MA; his son, Jeffrey D. Allen, daughter-in-law, Karen A. Allen, and grandchildren Melissa J. Allen and Timothy D. Allen of Monroe, CT; his daughter, Amy J. Allen of Wilton, CT; her twin brother Stephen A. Allen of New York City; and another son, Douglas C. Allen, daughter-in-law, Penelope S. Allen, and two week old granddaughter, Isabella Charlotte Allen of Stamford, CT.
Family and friends are asked to call Friday, December 15, 2006 between 5:00 and 8:00 PM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. The Reverend Ron Evans will officiate at a memorial service on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Darien, 14 Brookside Road, Darien. A private family interment will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
