I met Doug when I arrived as a new student on the playground at Holmes School on our first day of 6th grade. St. Thomas More School had closed so we were scattered into the local schools and knew very few kids. Well it was \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"love\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" at first sight! Yes, he gave me a hard time as all boys do to little girls with crushes on them, but we developed a wonderful friendship, often walking home from school together and cheering Doug on at DJFL games (#55) which both of our dads were so involved with. I can still picture sitting on the stone wall at the top of Echo Drive North with Doug and will carry that memory with me for a lifetime. I will miss you Doug. My heart goes out to your wonderful family at losing you and Robin so young. May they find the peace you would both wish for them during these very difficult times. Your beautiful smile is etched in my mind for eternity.

I extend my deepest sympathies to the Marchesi family. Dougie was a fierce competitor. Holmes, Middlesex, and then playing on the same team at DHS. A tough kid on the outside with a warm heart inside. We will all miss you Doug. Life goes fast people, enjoy those you cross paths with.

I would like to pass along my condolences to Dougs family and friends. During high school Doug made me smile when I needed it even though he hardly knew me. Doug just knew that someone was down and did something about it. His warmth and caring always showed. God bless you and may your wonderful memories bring you comfort.

To the Marchesi Family: Unfortunately, I didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t know Doug though I am sure he was a wonderful soul. I just want to pass along all my thoughts and prayers to you as I imagine we are experiencing similar pain at this time. I can only hope that my sister Betsy and my dad, Mike, are with Doug, his sister and his father in heaven and that they are all watching over us and will live on in our hearts. Peace be with all of you. Carly Burton

Doug and I were neighbors playing war games in the woods behind our Echo Drive North houses until my family moved in 5th grade. I knew of him through DJFL and Jr. High football until we were back together in high school. While we largely traveled in different circles, our contact was always friendly. I haven’t seen him since high school. My recollections of Doug are that he was always full of life and represented life’s potential, not its limitations. I am saddened he is gone.

I am filled with so much grief and sadness for the Marchesi family. I can't imagine what a difficult time this must be for you. My thoughts and my prayers are with you, Doug, and Robin. I know how they are missed. When I think of Doug and Robin, I will remember the words of Julia Cameron... "...We are united by our suffering and by our joy. One life flows through all life. One heart holds every heart. The loss I sustain today is the beginning of a larger, wiser, and kinder tomorrow. It is part of the dignity of those we lose that we go forward bearing them as a loving treasure in our hearts. I cherish those who I carry in my heart. I honor their thoughts, their wisdom, their guidance, and their support. I bring them forward through my actions toward the future they empowered." -Julia Cameron "There are pains that can not be contained in the mind - only in the heart. " -Stephen Levine
