Obituary of David Christopher Reynolds

David Christopher Reynolds, 85, passed away the morning of January 10, 2013 at Norwalk Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Reynolds was born on October 28, 1927 in New York City. He grew up in New York City and Washington, CT. He attended the Buckley School in NYC and Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH. In 1945 he interrupted his studies at Princeton University when he enlisted with the HQ Company of a US Army intelligence unit in Germany. Mr. Reynolds graduated from Princeton with the class of 1949. After Princeton he studied creative writing at Columbia University with Caroline Gordon.
In 1953 Mr. Reynolds married Sally Lehman of Kansas City, MO, where both worked at radio station KCKN. They moved back east and he studied law at Columbia University in NYC and was admitted to the New York and Connecticut Bar Associations.
Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds moved to Rowayton, CT in 1958 where they raised their daughter, Jane, and son, David.
After law school, Mr. Reynolds worked for the law firm Reynolds Richards in New York which his father, Oliver Charlick Reynolds, founded. Mr. Reynolds subsequently joined the law firm of Gilbert, Segal, and Young in Manhattan, where he became a senior partner; he then returned to Reynolds Richards as house counsel at the end of his career.
He was a member of the United Church of Rowayton for 50 years where he was a member of the Social Action Committee with Rev. Don Emig that led to the formation of Hill Top Homes senior housing; he was a founding member, former board member, VP, and legal counsel of the Rowayton Arts Center; a member of Roton Point Beach Club in Rowayton, the Steep Rock Association in Washington, CT, the Charter Club at Princeton, and the Princeton Club in New York.
He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing poker with his group, and enjoyed all of the arts; he wrote several short stories and plays beginning when he was in school and continuing through his adult years.
Mr. Reynolds is survived by his wife, Sally Reynolds, of Rowayton; daughter Jane Reynolds Todorski and her husband Jan, of Washington, CT; son David Reynolds, Jr., and his wife, Melinda, of Newtown, CT; and four grandsons, Adam Todorski, Eric Todorski, Niall Reynolds, and Liam Reynolds.
A Memorial Service led by Reverend John Livingston will be held at the United Church of Rowayton on Thursday, January 17th, at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the Rowayton Arts Center.
