George G. Coughlin, a resident of Darien since 1958 and a former resident of Greenwich, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born May 14, 1924 in Quincy, MA, he was the son of the late Wallace and Emily (Finnan) Coughlin. He was 82. Mr. Coughlin served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a long time Darien Postal Clerk. He also worked for Coke Cola Bottling and Canada Dry. He was a member of the Stamford/Darien AARP Chapter, the Darien Senior Center and a parishioner of St. John R.C. Church in Darien. He is survived by his wife Ann O’Donnell Coughlin of Darien, two daughters, Catherine Kozak of Norwalk, Nancy Gunderson of Mount Laurel, NJ and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by one daughter, Noreen Coughlin Berry and one brother, Robert W. Coughlin. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
