Obituary of Muriel Florence Montague

Muriel Florence Montague, a resident of Rowayton, CT, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 in Sandy Hook, CT. Born January 4, 1918 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Johanna Archer. She was 95. Muriel was a teacher at Persons Reading School and also taught at St. Elizabeth Grade School in Pittsburg, PA. She is survived by two sons, John H. Montague of Norwalk, CT; Jeffrey M. Montague of Sandy Hook, CT; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Doris Sullivan and Patricia McByrne both of Long Island, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Montague; a son, Dennis Patrick Montague; a brother, Joseph Archer; and a sister, Beatrice Lyons. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Father Joe Cervero of St. Patrick's Church in Redding. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Avenue, Suite 1802, New York, NY 10001.
