I was Ben's professor last year. He took two of my classes, Evolutionary Biology and Vertebrate Zoology. From the beginning, I knew that Ben was a very special person. He impressed me with his knowledge and experience and also his passion for the environment. I remember Ben sitting at the front of the class in Vertebrate Zoology and how he kept me on my toes with his insightful questions and comments. Every once in awhile Ben would say something in class that just made me pause and smile. I was deeply saddened to hear of Ben's passing. Please accept my deepest condolences. I will miss Ben.

Dear Kendall and Bruce, My thoughts are with you and your family as you remember Ben. As I got to know him over the past two years I came to realize how lucky I was to have him work with me in the field. His joy and dedication to match his education and interests to help solve problems in the real world was inspiring. He will be missed.

Dear Kendall; Although I have not met your children, I know them through our correspondence over the years and from your Facebook postings. I know them through the memories of you that I have from Bucknell. I offer you these words that I hope will provide perhaps a small amount of comfort to you and your family: Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. All my love, Judy Watts Pittsburgh, PA juwatts1603@gmail.com

So heartbreaking. I only met Ben a few times as his intake adviser at Fairfield University, but I was immediately struck by his gentleness, intelligence and joy for life. My heart goes out to his close friends and family, and it is wonderful to hear that he will be living on (literally) in the lives of others. A wonderful gift.

As Ben's 10th grade English teacher, I remember so fondly his sweetness, his can-do attitude, and his strong work ethic. He was a daily joy. At this time when words ring so hollow, I send all of Ben's family my deepest sympathy. "One short sleep past, we wake eternally And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die."

Despite a fair shedding of tears, I am finding myself wiping lone tears randomly as I've carried out the past few days. I guess that goes to show Ben and the Glavin twins left a deeper impression on me than I had ever really realized until recent. I am honored to have spent a summer working with and getting to know Ben at the HF Bar Ranch in 2012. I admired his passion for animal behavior, books and adventure as a whole. Tagging along on some of the boys' hikes and spelunking trips unearthed the adventurous corpse I find in myself today. I can honestly say those adventures have profoundly influenced the life I currently lead in Montana. Ben was young, though the impact he made throughout his time here is a fine example of quality over quantity. May your roots rest in infinity, Ben Wood. Loads of love, C

I am heartbroken. I knew Bennett as a thoughtful student in my physics class at Fairfield this semester. I will miss him, as will his classmates. He took on the challenge of learning physics by actively asking questions, offering his ideas in class and meeting me after class. You must be very proud of this wonderful young man. My sincere sympathy to his family for your tragic loss.
