Obituary of Bob R. Turnbull

Bob R. Turnbull, a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 in Stamford. Born June 17, 1930 in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Ree Turnbull. He was 82 years of age. Bob retired after 40 years as a conductor for Metro North Railroad. He was a parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church and an avid fisherman on Long Island Sound. He is survived by his four children, Donna Elsy and her husband David of Fairfield, CT; Robin Higgins of Mesa, AZ; Victoria Hall of South Salem, NY; Robert W. Turnbull of Enfield, CT; and two step-children, Thomas R. Slocum of Rocky Mount, NC and Elaine Slocum of Stamford. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Nina Turnbull in 2008. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd., Darien on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford.
