Obituary of Elvira Helen Grant

Elvira Helen Grant, age 94, of South Norwalk, CT, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury, CT. She was married for 49 years to the late Alfred Lawrence Grand who passed away in 1997. Mrs. Grant was a resident of Topping Lane in South Norwalk for the past 57 years. She was born on August 27, 1912 in New York City, the only daughter of the late Axel and Martha (Srematz) Pearson, immigrants from Helsingborg, Sweden and New York City. A 1929 graduate of James Monroe High School in New York City, Mrs. Grant was an exceptional accountant and as a young woman she was employed by Farm Brothers and Bozak Music. She retired from the Union Trust Bank in Darien, CT. A member of the United Church of Rowayton, she has previously been a member of the First Congregation Church of Darien. Mrs. Grant was a member of the Viking Yacht Club and The Shore & County Club in Norwalk. She lover to play bridge and was a member of the Norwalk Women’s Club. She is survived by her son, Lawrence W. Grant and his wife, Tina Segalla-Grant, and granddaughter, Melissa, of Brookfield, CT. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Tuesday, February 13, 20076 at 11:00 AM. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to the time of the service. Burial will be private at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.
