Obituary of John Kelling Wendt

John Kelling Wendt Sr. 77, of Stamford, CT died Thursday April 4th at Regency Heights Nursing Home. Born in Manhattan, Mr. Wendt was the son of the late Charles Wendt and Evelyn Hughes. He attended St. Luke's School in New Canaan. After serving in the U.S. Army he graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was President of Rudel Machinery Company, a member of Westchester Country Club, and Fishers Island Country Club of N.Y. He was an avid golfer, skier, and paddle tennis player. He also coached for the Darien Hockey Youth Program, and was a passionate sports fan. He was a longtime resident of Darien. He is survived by his former wife of 26 years, Barbara Wendt along with their three children, Laura Wendt of Fairfield, John Wendt Jr. of Fairfield and Katie Wendt Weber of Niwot, CO and his grandson William Weber. He is also survived by his brother Fred Wendt of Puerto Rico. Memorial calling hours will be on Thursday April 11 at the Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien from 2-5pm, followed by a celebration of life at Ernie's Bar in Darien.
