John C. O’Toole, a resident of Darien and a former 3 year resident of Stamford, passed away at his home in Darien on Monday morning, March 19, 2007. Born in 1969 in Montclair, NJ, he was the son of John and Patricia O’Toole of Plantation, FL. He was 37. He is survived by his wife, Erin O’Toole and his three children, Sean, Bridget and Ryan O’Toole all of Darien. He is also survived by three sisters, Jean of Falls Church, VA; Kathryn of Plantation, FL and Patricia of Davie, FL. John received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. He worked for CIBC World Markets in New York City where he was Executive Director of U.S. Equities. He was a parishioner of St. John R.C. Church in Darien. John avidly fundraised for the Lance Armstrong Foundation raising nearly $80, 000 dollars. He completed four century (100 mile) bike races. He also did four LAF challenge bike rides including one century for the LAF while he was battling cancer and undergoing treatment. John was an avid snowboarder and baseball player and enjoyed weekend trips on his motorcycle. He was a diehard Yankee fan –who had many great moments at Yankee Stadium, and while under going treatment fulfilled a life long dream by making it the final round of tryouts for the Yankee Triple A franchise in Atlantic City. John was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, March 22, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Friday, March 23, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) for cancer research at laf.org and donate under “Team O’Toole”.
