Obituary of Dorothy A. Hamernick

Dorothy A. Hamernick, a resident of Norwalk and a former long-time resident of Darien, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Norwalk Hospital. Born on November 6, 1925 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Martin) Tirpak. She was 87. Dorothy graduated from Stamford High School and was a long time operator for SNET. She was very devoted to her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Edward J. Hamernick of Norwalk; four children Donald E. Hamernick and his wife Mary of Montrose, PA; Richard J. Hamernick and his wife Joy of Darien; Donna Gabordi and her husband Bob of Tallahassa, FL; and Marianne Cooper of Norwalk; and 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters Ella Olsen of Stamford; Joannie Dineen also of Stamford; and Helen McGuiness of Florida. She was predeceased by one brother and five sisters. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
