Marion Stevens Harris Obituary

Marion Stevens Harris, a resident of Darien for 58 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2007 in Darien after a long illness. Born in 1926 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Stoddard M. and Marion (Olney) Stevens. She was 80.


Marion was a long time member of Noroton Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon, taught Sunday School and participated in a bible study group. She was active with the Darien Nature Center and Stamford Hospital. She was a member of Wee Burn Country Club where she enjoyed golf and tennis. She also had a great love of traveling the world.


She is survived by her husband, Edward M. Harris, Jr. of Darien; two sons, Edward M. Harris, III of Durham, England and Peter D. Harris of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ; one daughter, Marion O. Foster of Fargo, ND and five grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Adele Vail of Ignacio, CO and Katherine Ward of Maplewood, NJ.


Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at the Noroton Presbyterian Chapel, 2011 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
