Whitney: I will miss photocopying the NY Times crossword puzzle for you every day, and then meeting up in the afternoon to see which answers we were missing. I will miss how we'd be unable to get any additional letters, but then you'd invariably call me or come to my desk 2 minutes later with some flash of brilliance that occurred to you after I left. I will miss going to the gym with you at lunch. I will miss getting to teach you all the things my trainer showed me that morning, and you teaching me all the things your trainer showed you. I will miss having a kindred spirit that both hated and loved working out at the same time. I will miss lying outside on the pavement and throwing a ten pound ball around and having all the people eating lunch look at us like we're crazy, and then just laughing about it. I will miss your crazy lunges and ridiculously long wall sits. You kicked serious ass. I will miss gossiping about family drama, our clothes and shoes, what we cooked for dinner last night. No matter what I brought up in conversation, you always had something to say, something to contribute. I loved your laugh! I will miss bonding over photography and other artistic endeavors. I loved that we shared that passion. I'm sad that you never got a chance to show me any of your art - I really looked forward to seeing it. I hope wherever you are is as beautiful as the beauty your passion for art probably inspired in life. I am terribly sad that our connections did not have the chance to blossom into what would surely have been a long and fulfilling friendship. I will miss you and I will not forget you. You were taken too soon. To Whitney's family, friends, fiance - my thoughts and prayers are with you. I am deeply sorry for your loss and hope that through family and community you can make it through this difficult time!

Whitney - you are so loved by myself, Shawn, and especially by Luke, Megan and baby Colin. We will miss your smiling face just poppin' into our kitchen once or twice a week...just to say hi. Your friendship is such a treasure to me, personally. You are pure sunshine and I am going to miss you more then words can express. I can still hear you laughing. Our children will always know that they have a beautiful angel in heaven watching out for them always. Doug - Whitney glowed because of your love for her. We are so sorry for your painful loss. Chris, Julie and Scooter - you are like family to us. Whitney was a joyful person because of your family's love. Our door and our hearts will always be open to you all. Whitney was my 2nd grade "buddy" when I was new to Darien. That became a deep friendship. With limited space, here are a few memories I wanted to share: - Whitney took a day off work to celebrate my last day in NY before I moved abroad. She said it was "non-negotiable" that she would use vacation to be with me. This is a great example of the way she always prioritized her friendships. - When we went to different schools, we had a notebook that we would write letters to each other in, then send back & forth. Whitney was always so creative, and she started this unique idea. These letters helped both of us overcome many hardships of adolescence. - Whitney's luggage was lost when she & Jeannette visited the UK. Through the stress, she continued to see the situation as "comical" and was always amused as each event unfolded. Such a great ability to laugh and find humor in a situation. There are so many more. And now my heart is just aching for Doug, Mr and Mrs Smith, and Scooter.

In this world we do not always find a candle to lead us through the darkness, or the right pathway through the forest. I did not have an opportunity to know Whitney better as we grew older, however what I do remember was her smile, her laughter, and that brightness she carried with here where everywhere. It saddens me to know that her candle will no longer brighten the lives of those she touched. May the memories we have and hold of her shine like the brightest star to lighten our lives in their darkest moments. Whitney you will always be loved and forever missed!

I was so very fortunate not only to know Whitney from our years spent together at Holy Cross, but I was also lucky enough to work with her at MSSB. Space here does not permit me to share all of the wonderful memories I have of Whitney, but she has left an indelible impression in my heart, and in the hearts of so many, and the loss of the beautiful, smiling, wide-eyed, smart, funny, talented, kind, giving and caring Whitney has left us all heartbroken. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Finley, and Doug, My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Colleen (Quigley) Carey HC Class of 2003

I am deeply saddened to learn of Whitney's death. My thought and prayers go out to Doug and her family. Whitney used to sit right behind me for a few years when I worked at Citi Smith Barney/Legg. She was very fun and smart and sweet. She will be greatly missed.
