Obituary of Anthony M. Waters

Anthony M. Waters, a resident of Darien, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Stamford Hospital surrounded by his wife, his parents and several siblings, after a valiant battle against melanoma cancer, which was first diagnosed in early March. Bon on March 10, 1968, he is the son of William and Jane Waters, and is survived by his devoted wife, Meryl L. Waters. He was 48 year of age. Tony grew up in Darien and was educated in the Darien Elementary and Middle school system. For high school, he attended Avon Old Farms School in Avon, CT, Class of 1986, followed by Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, Class of 1990. After college, Tony pursued a career in financial services, first at the Permal Group in Manhattan, NYC, and with Merrill Lynch in Stamford, CT, until he fell ill. Tony was an avid skier, golfer and bowler. He was a member of The Killington Ski Club in Killington, VT and the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien. Besides his wife and parents, he is also survived by sisters, Victoria Waters of Darien; Maria W. Ferlic of Cherry Hills Village, CO; and a brother, Ned Waters (Rebecca) of Quechee, VT; his four nieces: Alanna W. Mastine, Jennifer Warm, Reeve Ferlic, and Emma Fink; and four nephews: Whit Ferlic, John Rossi, Nicholas Rossi and Mason Fink. He is also survived by his beloved best friend Francois, his French Bulldog. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas More Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien. A reception will immediately follow afterwards at the Wee Burn Country Club, 410 Hollow Tree Ridge Road, Darien. Burial will be private.
