William Miller Obituary
William Miller, a former 30 year resident of Darien, CT, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck, NY. He was a resident there for the past two years.
Well known for many years as the “Can Man of Darien”, he had several newspaper articles written about his endeavors.
Born in Stamford, CT on February 24, 1909, he was the son of the late Daniel and Susie Miller. He was married for 60 years to Marian Kecskes who predeceased him in 1996.
He worked for many years as a hatter for the Hat Corporation of America in Norwalk. He was also employed by Sperry Semi Conductor in Plumbing and Heating Maintenance in Norwalk. During this period he also worked for his brother, Louis, at Stephen Miller Plumbing in Norwalk.
An avid fisherman all his life, he was a life time member of the South Norwalk Boat Club.
He is survived by his son, William J. Miller and his wife, Susan of Staatsburg, NY; a daughter, Christine Kopcha Pritchard and her husband, Russell of Denver, CO and five grandchildren, Doug Kopcha, Jr. of California; Kimberly Olson of San Francisco, CA; Kelli Kopcha of Manhattan, NY; Cynthia Miller of Norwalk, CT and Gregory Miller of Bermuda Dunes, CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Diane Stiles Taylor of Stamford, CT.
Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, April 30, 2007 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford, CT.
