Obituary of Ruth M. Ryan

Ruth M. Ryan, a resident of St. Petersburg, FL since 1973 and a former resident of Stamford for over 33 years, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007 at Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. Born in 1918 in Manchester, CT, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Phoebe (Davis) Phillips. She was 88. Ruth worked for Beall’s Department store in Florida and for Audio Tape Co. and Clairol both in Stamford. She was also a former member of the Seminole United Methodist Church in Pinellas Park, FL and a member of Sea Towers Clowns of Madeira Beach, FL. She is survived by her daughter Kathy Mendelssohn and her husband, Paxton, of St. Petersburg, FL and Darien; and by one grandson, Paxton B. Mendelssohn of Treasure Island, FL. She is also survived by a sister, Violet Ceasare of St. Petersburg, FL; three nephews, Paul Ceasare of St. Petersburg, FL; James Paight of Stamford; and George Paight of California and one niece, Sharon Paight also of California. She is also survived by two grand nieces and one grand nephew and two great grand nephews. A private family interment will be held at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford. The Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, Darien handled the local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, Largo, FL.
