Obituary of Malcolm Douglas Crawford

Malcolm Douglas Crawford, a former longtime resident of West Norwalk and a current resident of Ridgefield, died on Saturday, May 26, 2007. Born in 1928 in Glen Ridge, NJ, he was the son of the late Douglas J. and Jean (Turnbull) Crawford. He was 78. Mr. Crawford graduated from The Hill School and graduated cum laude from Princeton University in 1950. He received his M.B.A. from New York University and an M.F.A. from Fairfield University. Mr. Crawford was comptroller of Rogers, Peet Co. and was Chief Financial Office of Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. He served with the National Guard during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Mr. Crawford was a member of Wilton Rotary and The Health Care Financial Management Association. He volunteered at Norwalk Community College as a tutor and also tutored in the Norwalk Public Schools. He was a longtime parishioner and volunteer at St. Luke's Episcopal Church and was treasurer of West Norwalk Association. He is survived by his wife Virginia R. Crawford and three daughters, Kathleen W. Crawford of Washington, DC; Jean Crawford Hudner of Denver, CO; Sarah Crawford Kalata of Needham, MA. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Wynne Phillips of Stormville, NY and Deborah Thomas of Westford, VT. Eight grandchildren also survive, Sara and Sanford Hudner; Kevin, Rebecca and Ellen Thomas; Tim, Laura and Nathaniel Phillips. A sister, Dr. Elizabeth Parker of New York City also survives. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Crawford. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 11:30 AM. A private family interment will be held at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Upper Montclair, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Danbury Hospital Development Fund, 24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury, CT 06810, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820 or the charity of your choice.
