Obituary of Robert Bonoff

Robert (Bob) Harris Bonoff, age 73, died on July 11, 2007 in Stamford Hospital after many courageous battles with illnesses. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn Hirschorn Bonoff, devoted father of Adam Geoffrey Bonoff and his wife Allison, and Neil Erik Bonoff. In addition, Bob is survived by his brother George Harris Bonoff and his wife Roberta and many nieces and nephews. Bob was born in Paterson, NJ to Aaron and Esther Bonoff and he grew up in Rockville Centre, NY. He is a graduate of Southside High School, and attended Adelphi University and City College. He was involved in the electronics industry for many years, owning a business called The Sound Gallery in Greenwich, CT, The Energy Savers Group in Stamford, CT and during the last phase of his career he worked as a computer programmer consultant for many major corporations. He was concerned with giving back to the community and got involved in many volunteer organizations. He served on the FISH (Friends In Service Helping) board for 30 years and was the recipient of the Volunteer Of The Year award. He was instrumental in automating the Harry Rosenbaum Library at the JCC. As a member of The Fellowship for Jewish Learning, he produced a bi-monthly newsletter for many years. Bob was a man who always saw the glass half full, approached each day with unlimited humor and uplifted the spirits of all those around him. He always cherished his wife of 48 years and his 2 sons who completed his world. The family will be receiving visitors at the Bonoff home on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of food to the home, contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to FISH or a charity of your choice.
