Margretta DeVivo a resident of Darien since 1951, passed away at Stamford Hospital on July 22, 2007. She was born and raised in Newport, Rhode Island to the late Raymond and Helen Schoentzler Lawton. She was 78. Margretta was a graduate from the Lesley University in Rhode Island. She was a former nursery school teacher at Stamford Day Nursery. In addition, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford. Margretta was a member of the Darien Community Association and was their former Tournament Bridge Director. She was also a member of the Darien Boat Club. Margretta is survived by her husband Victor DeVivo of Darien CT, her son Victor (Jay) DeVivo of Fairfield CT, her two daughters, Wendy Hedin of Newtown CT, Doe DeVivo of Dover PA, her brother, Frederick Lawton of Revere MA and two grandchildren, Kai Hedin of Newtown CT and Mark DeVivo of Fairfield CT. Calling Hours will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd., Darien CT, from 10:00AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday July 26, 2007, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM.
