Obituary of Albert Cookson

Albert "Tom" Cookson passed away peacefully on December 2, 2013 in Naples, Florida. Born in Needham, Massachusetts in 1921, he was a longtime resident of Darien from 1965 until 1988 before moving to Florida.
He was the son of the late Willard and Sara Jack Cookson. Albert attended Northeastern University graduating in 1943 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He served in the US Navy during World War II as a radar officer aboard a light cruiser the USS Fargo in the American Theatre and European Theatre.
He earned a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1951 and married Constance Buckley Cookson, his wife of 38 years who predeceased him in 1987.
Albert worked at MIT as a research assistant in the electronics lab from 1946 to 1951. He worked at ITT from 1951 to 1983 retiring as Senior Vice President and General Technical Director. He enjoyed flying as an aircraft pilot and was a lifetime ham radio operator.
Albert is survived by his loving wife Lorraine Hirsch Cookson who he married at a later time. He is survived by his son William and his wife Mary of Stamford, Connecticut; and his daughter Constance Cookson of San Diego, California. He is also survived by grandsons Thomas Cookson and Christopher Cookson.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother John Cookson and sisters Ruth Davis, Eola-Jean Cookson Dorothy Cookson, and Alyce Rimmer. www.lawrencefuneralhome.com
